WP: "What is your most beloved room in your home and why?"
Katharina: "Torn between my beautiful office and the kitchen in our Heroldian Townhouse I would have to chose the kitchen / garage. There is never a dull moment in our kitchen and I would say the art plays a big part in that. It is an architecturally speaking astonishing space that comprises of stone arches, high ceilings, beautiful tiling and an old well. You will find a red car, a grandfather clock, a big yellow stove and a 3 meter long marble dining table set within art filled walls. It is where friends and neighbours gather, clients stay for dinner, dancing commences and vintage movies are screened for our Can Llevadora (name of the house) Film Club. There‘s a sofa and a fireplace so it is also cosy in the winter months.
The gallery walls were created by our artist in residence Vicente Hirmas and me during two evenings with Brasilian music playing, paintings in one hand and a scotch whisky in the other, interchanged with the hammer or the drill. It comprises of a mix of works dating from the 17th century to today. It is ever changing because most of the artworks are for sale and we frequently have people falling in love with a piece during a night filled with food and laughter. In the end it is the gatherings that make a house a home."
