Christine Van Der Hurd
Born and bred in London, Christine Van Der Hurd is admired internationally as one of the most creative minds in the interiors and textiles industry. With a career that spans some 50 years, it began in 1973 shortly after graduating from the esteemed Winchester Art College immediately selling her designs to Osborne & Little, Liberty of London, Etro and Yves Saint Laurent.Today, the Vanderhurd design studio and textile atelier prides itself on working ascomfortably on smaller bespoke projects as well as scaled hotel and retail commissions.The thread that binds the studio’s timeless designs is the inspired use of colour and textureas well as an inherent understanding of hand weaving, printing and embroidery workingclosely with artisans to develop new techniques, qualities and innovations that allow theseancient processes to be preserved and evolved into contemporary design.
