Walnut

by Findere
MEDIUM
Steel, Mulberry paper and Walnut Husk
DESCRIPTION
Original A hand-bent, shaped and welded steel frame supports this piece, allowing light to glow through both shade and base. The paper's unique texture is achieved through a traditional Japanese process called Momigami, which translates to 'kneaded paper.' This technique, once used by Japanese peasants who could not afford expensive fabric, strengthens the paper, giving it with remarkable resilience.
The rich chocolate-brown hue is made using walnut husks, an ancient dye steeped in history and folklore.
