Isabelle Carr (b. 1997, Dorset, England) is an artist living and working in London. Inspired by our inherent need to connect with the land, Isabelle considers the symbiotic relationship of human experience and environment throughout time, exploring recurring shapes and motifs. Relying heavily on intuition, each work is mapped out using pencil mark making, concealing a layer of energetic movement beneath the solid stillness of paint. The sculptural paintings contemplate themes of tension, stability, isolation and connection; sentiments Isabelle relates to her personal understanding of landscape and identity. Heavy layers of paint are carved into, gesturing a human presence.
