Nettle And Ivory

by Findere
MEDIUM
Steel, Mulberry paper and Nettle natural dye
DESCRIPTION
Original A hand-bent, shaped and welded steel frame supports this piece, allowing light to glow through both shade and base. The paper's unique texture is achieved through a traditional Japanese process called Momigami, which translates to 'kneaded paper.' This technique, once used by Japanese peasants who could not afford expensive fabric, strengthens the paper, giving it remarkable resilience.
The deep khaki-grey colour is created by dyeing the base with nettles gathered during spring in the English countryside.
